Twists on Classic Burgers You Might Not Have Considered

Twists on Classic Burgers You Might Not Have Considered

Everyone claims to make the best burgers, and in many ways they do. They make burgers the way they believe they (and their guests) will enjoy them. This results in some mouth-watering combinations and burger platters people have made with twists to the classic burger recipes.

We break down the small changes that can have a big impact and how to bring all those together in a few unique recipes.

Make a Better Burger Platter Using Different Sauces

You’ll never go wrong with ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, or barbeque sauce, but you can replace them with alternatives or add to them with others that will add something unique to your palette.

For instance, Worcestershire sauce and a little brown sugar for added flavour will add a unique tang to your burgers. For a single topping solution, replace regular mayo with chipotle mayo for some added zest or even a remoulade sauce to jazz up your burgers while still having a mayo-like texture.

Lettuce, tomatoes and onions are all classics on most burger platters, but you don’t need to stop there.

Why not give your burger a little more of Mexican taste with refried beans, salsa, pepper jack cheese, and other burrito toppings?

Alternatively give your burger a more Asian zing with soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice wine and honey.

For a real southern punch, add corn, salsa, onion, tomato, and cilantro in a winning and filling combo.

Who Says You Need a Grill?

Now, we’re not saying you shouldn’t grill because that would be crazy. However, if you don’t have a grill *gasp* then you might be wondering what alternatives you have for wowing your guests with a solid burger platter

The first go-to you might consider is pan-frying, which does work well, but you need to be diligent about how hot you cook the pan as it can be a nightmare to clean after burgers if you have the heat too high.

Alternatively, you can actually cook hamburgers in the oven. Yes, really. It’s a little unconventional, but hey, if it works it works!
