Best Things to Do in the Okanagan Valley While on Winter Vacation

Although some activities aren’t possible right now, there are still plenty of things to do in the Okanagan Valley this winter. Some of them you might not have even thought about!

We break down some of the most fun ones you can still enjoy with family or your core bubble of friends.

Things to Do in the Okanagan Valley: Enjoy Craft Beer or Wines at Local Breweries and Pubs

Kelowna, in particular, has a massive amount of small local restaurants, pubs, and breweries to explore, but you’ll find amazing local treasures all over the valley. From thai food to classic burgers and fries, the diversity of food a drink available means there’s little chance you’ll be able to try them all in one day (but you’re welcome to give it a shot).

In terms of wineries (something the Okanagan Valley is known for) there’s no shortage of choice either. Many of them offer award-winning wines, and some Okanagan wines have even placed or won in competitions around the world.

If you’re looking for classic pub food to fill you up with some truly satisfying Kelowna specials, check out Brandt’s Creek Pub. Our large selection of hot foods will keep you warm from your fingers to your toes this winter.

Explore the Valley on Dog Sled

One of the most unique offerings in the valley, Candle Creek Dog Sled Tours at Big White in Kelowna will definitely check off a bucket list item you didn’t realize you had.

Not only will you get to enjoy the company of many dogs, but you’ll also get one of the most scenic tours of the valley with incredible views.

Plus, you know, you’ll get to ride in a dog sled.

Check Out the Views From the Myra Canyon Trestles

Although the railway and tracks are long gone along this section of the Kettle Valley Railway, the trail and tunnels remain. There’s 12km of trails to walk or bike along that offer stunning views in addition to a great workout.

Whether winter or summer, this should definitely be on your list of things to do in the Okanagan Valley.

Zoom Down the Ski Slopes

British Columbia is fortunate in that almost every major city has a ski resort not too far from it. The Okanagan Valley Benefits from having 3 major resorts:

  • SilverStar Mountain Resort
  • Big White Ski Resort
  • Apex Mountain Resort

Each enjoys the “champagne” powder snow that falls every year that’s perfect for gliding down runs. No matter which you choose, you’re sure to have a great day on the slopes.

Make your winter vacation in the Okanagan Valley this year a memorable one. Try one or even all of the things we mentioned on our list to get the most out of your time off and experience the valley’s best.
